Trekking: Santa Cruz – Vaquería – Llanganuco (5 days – 4 nights)
This is a well-known trekking route nationally and internationally. Its beautiful circuit takes place in the central part of the Huascaran National Park where mountains surpass an altitude of 6000 meters. To become acclimatized, we will make a trek to Honqopampa (3,500 meters high) which lasts 4 to 5 hours and let us adapt to the altitude.
Day 1° Trekking to Hongopampa in order to become acclimatized. We depart from Huaraz to Paltay, approximately to 15 km in a bus.
Day 2° Huaraz–Caraz–Cashapampa–Llamac Corral. In a private bus, we will leave to Cashapama where the trekking route starts in the Santa Cruz ravine up to the Llamac Corral campsite at 3,800 meters high (Duration: 4-5 hours)
Day 3° Llamac Corral–Taullipampa. We will continue our trekking route to the campsite in Taullipampa. Throughout the course of our trekking, we will see the Ichikqocha y Jatunqocha lakes surrounded by mountains like the Alpamayo, Quitaraju, Artesonraju y Rinrihirka. We will sleep in Taullipampa at 4,2000 meters high (Duration: 4-5 hours)
Day 4° Taullipampa–Punta Unión–Huaripampa. We will cross the highest pass of the road, the Punta Union at 4,.750 meters high, then we will go down the Huaripampa ravine to get to Quenuapampa where we will camp at 3.800 meters high (Duration: 6-7 hours)
Day 5° From Quenuapampa we will go down the Huaripampa ravine to Yanachaca to go up then to Vaqueria and return to Huaraz through the Portachuelo Pass (4,600 meters high) and the Llanganuco ravine. Also, we will see the Orqoqocha y Chinanqocha lagoons in the Huascaran National Park.
